The subjects illustrated in this volume have been chosen as being typical of their time and place of origin. Various glassmaking areas have been dealt with in the order of important in which they have arisen. The many b&w photographs and full colored illustrations cover some very unique pieces thru the ages from: Egypt, Rome, Middle East & Islam to the Seine-Rhine area, Venice, China, Britain, Bohemia, England after 1850, France, America. from the 17th century to 1973 (when the book was published. Starting from 15th Century - 900 A.D. for Egypt; 1st Century B.C to 400 AD - Rome,,,and so on. Jugs, goblets, bowls, cruet, wine glasses, bottles are shown at their best.

A cameo vase from late 19th century is especially vivid; a sailing ship made entirely of glass with a lighthouse & 3 smaller vessels demonstrates the glassmaker's skill; Emile Galle' exquisite vase; Tiffany Studios beautiful art glass 1896 of Favrile; Waterford Glass House items.etc. A very readable and enjoyable addition to your collection of reference books on glass!
