Inside front page has mark where paper was removed. Craftsmen have endeavored to produce glass vessels that were both useful and beautiful. Some of these found a place in the museums of the world, others still exist today in sufficient quantity to enable private collectors to assemble collections which represent the domestic glassware of particular countries or periods. Starting from 15th Century - 900 A.D. for Egypt; 1st Century B.C to 400 AD - Rome,,,and so on. Jugs, goblets, bowls, cruet, wine glasses, bottles are shown at their best. A cameo vase from late 19th century is especially vivid; a sailing ship made entirely of glass with a lighthouse & 3 smaller vessels demonstrates the glassmaker's skill; Emile Galle' exquisite vase; Tiffany Studios beautiful art glass 1896 of Favrile; Waterford Glass House items.etc. A very readable and enjoyable addition to your collection of reference books on glass!
