ANNAPOLIS HOUSES 1700-1775 (R.I.) Deering Davis A.I.D. 1947 1101011016 Excellent condition inside this 1947 hardcover book, slight shelf wear around edges. Tells about and amply illustrates Colonial houses, settled 300 years ago by people seeking freedom of worship the town first known as Providence, then as Anne Arundel Town and finally as Annapolis. The town offered FOUR signers of the Declaration of Independence, and was chosen in 1845, as the seat of the new Nation's Naval Academy. It is something of an AMerican shrine because of its superb group of survivial COLONIAL HOUSES which this book covers with maps, pictures, descriptions, stories and more! It will have a SPECIAL VALUE to decorators because of its wealth of pictures of INTERIORS, still as they were when American arhitecture was at a peak moment. Certainly the builders of these old houses could have had no idea of the subsequent memories which their homes would evoke. But they built well. The old houses still stand and teir ties of memory are still unbreakable!!! 9 x 11" OVERSIZE. The book jacket has wear and a taped tear at left bottom.
