10 SECRETS FOR SUCCESS AND INNER PEACE Dyer, Wayne W. 2001 14788 Using aphorisms such as Virginia Woolf's "Arrange whatever pieces come your way" and Mother Teresa's "God is the friend of silence," Dr. Wayne Dyer constructs a natural footpath to inner peace and enduring success. The calming text is almost poetic in its simplicity. From the Publisher : Bestselling Author and Lecturer Wayne W. Dyer has written a thought-provoking book for those of us who have chosen to consciously be on our life path. The ten "secrets" for success and inner peace presented here apply whether you're just embarking on your path, are nearing the end of it, or are on the path in any way. Dr. Dyer urges you to read these ten secrets with an open heart. By doing so, you'll learn to feel the peace of God that truly defines success Dr. Dyer shares his view that we're living in an age of spiritual deficiency. We have more than enough information in our society -- it's spirituality that's lacking. First and foremost, spiritually advanced people must have a "burning desire" to become as spiritually fulfilled as possible -- even if they're seen as running against the pack or "marching to the beat of their own drummer," as Henry David Thoreau (Dr. Dyer's spiritual mentor) said. Dr. Dyer's ten principles include: ' Being open to everything and attached to nothing.', Understanding that there are no justified resentments in life. Embracing silence, since meditation is the only way to truly come to know your Source. Knowing that you can't solve a problem with the same mind that created it. Treating yourself as if you already are what you'd like to become. From The Critics Publishers Weekly Popular motivational lecturer and bestselling author Wayne Dyer's latest book is a small volume that reveals some basic principles for changing one's outlook on life. Ten Secrets for Success and Inner Peace is a simple, honest guide to living happily. Among his recommendations: have a mind that is open to everything and attached to nothing, treat yourself as if you already are what you'd like to be and wisdom is avoiding all thoughts that weaken you. Dyer's words are complemented by pastel-colored watercolors; the plush cover and small size make this a good gift. - Gift inscription from previous owner inside front cover. There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem Dyer, Wayne W. 2001 10017130 With his usual mix of enthusiasm, optimism, and anecdote, Dr. Wayne Dyer is back again to emphasize that we are in control of our life experiences. Quoting everything from the Bible to The Tao of Pooh, he returns continually to his central point: with truth and self-awareness, all things are possible, including physical healing, improved relationships, and great personal accomplishment. There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem dissects what is meant by the word problem and shows us how to achieve our deepest wishes with surprisingly simple suggestions. Illustrating the possibilities with a variety of stories and letters, Dyer manages to nicely balance the whimsical with the practical. On one page, you'll find straightforward advice like, "If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway." In the next section, you'll find a long explanation of the importance of finding "the potential to keep your field of energy uncontaminated." Some may find this disconcerting, yet it also allows careful readers to search out the particular story or method that works for them. Anecdotes from addicts, parents whose children have died, and hospital patients are strewn throughout the book, as are references to Dyer's previous works and lengthy passages from other spiritual authors. In every case, these stories showcase the power of positive thinking and using those positive thoughts to manifest positive change. Although this attempt at changing the world one thought at a time is not vastly different in tone or message from Dyer's previous works, his fans will nevertheless appreciate it. --Jill Lightner From Publishers Weekly The first half of this book is virtually interchangeable with any number of manuals by Deepak Chopra, John Bradshaw and Marianne Williamson. Self-help guru Dyer urges readers not to let their problems get them down; problems, he chirps, are just illusions anyway. Like many other pop spirituality writers in our multicultural age, Dyer draws on spiritual wisdom from the world over, peppering his pages with quotations from the Bhagavad Gita and the Bible. Dyer too often veers into the blatantly self-promotional, weaving in letters from readers who say their lives have been utterly transformed by following his advice. But the second half of the book an extended meditation on Francis of Assisi's well-known prayer "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace" distinguishes this offering from the rest of the self-help pack. Dyer urges readers to choose peace, to think about the sun's light and energy when they stumble into a place of darkness and to focus on hope when all they feel is despair. He advises acting loving in situations filled with anger and hate, letting go of fear and "shifting from pessimism to optimism." These aren't breathtakingly original suggestions, but Dyer, returning again and again to the words of St. Francis, presents such familiar lessons in a fresh and loving way. Dyer's large and loyal following will enjoy this book,. HarperCollins 0060192305 / 9780060192303 Hardcover As New Condition Price:

YOUR SACRED SELF Dyer, Wayne W. 1995 7000605 From Publishers Weekly Every problem, Dyer asserts, has a solution in the "sacred self." Our sacred, or spiritual, selves, he explains, represent our true natures. But we lose touch with the sacred self through the interference of ego, which produces anxieties and leads us to feel frustration, strife and pain and to inflict these on others. Here Dyer (Your Erroneous Zones) offers strategies for freeing oneself from the tyranny of ego and getting back in touch with the sacred self. He suggests that it is only through this reformation of individual consciousness that global problems such as war and poverty can be overcome. Peppered with inspirational quotes from sources as diverse as Emily Dickinson and Janis Joplin, his manual is noteworthy for its encouragement of tolerance and self-acceptance. But his reliance on New Age rhetoric will probably leave skeptical readers unconvinced. Author tour. Harpercollins 0-06-017786-1 / 9780060177867 Hardcover Very Good New York Price:
