SHAGGY DOGS STORY Finley, Ron 2006 55216 From the Publisher Shaggy Dogs Story stops readers in their tracks. It's got daring and conflict, intrigue and New York, fine art . . . and dogs! The book shares its send-up documentary style with that of the extremely successful Why Cats Paint. Ron Finley's story is equal parts Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and art-history primer, featuring dog-themed homages to some of the world's best-known artists. The book relates the adventures of Nikki and Sandro, two talented Weimaraners desperate to escape servitude in an Eastern European circus run by an evil Romanian mime. The dogmatic duo escape to the Big Apple, where cosmic forces combine to team them up with a starving, if inept, Young Artist. The trio trot off on adventures through New York's contemporary art scene, a round-the-world photo shoot, and a showing of their work at the Louvre. Their astonishing discoveries in Florence turn the art-and dog-world on its ear. Finley's witty story line and color-drenched photo illustrations are both captivating and hilarious. His clever and original tale entertains readers, while tweaking reality just enough to make them wonder if there's a lot more "dog-story" than "his-tory" may have recorded.
