Based on such favorite Chinese motifs as: Peonies, cranes, and fish - these designs embody the spirit of Chinese arts and textiles. Each design is fully graphed and illustrated in glorious color. Directions are given for translating the graph to canvas, working the pattern, and finishing off, binding, and lining. While color combinations are suggested, the worker is free to choose whatever colors would be most suitable. If custom designed and painted on canvas, each rug would cost many times the price of this book. By starting with a BLANK canvas and Maggie Lane's very clear graphs, the needlepointer can realize a substantial savings and have the fun of watching the design grow as it is worked!
