Black Sky River Seymour, Tres 1996 170003657 The river is a 'long, dark, endless ribbon' of birds. A boy tries and tries to count them but there are too many -- thousands. This beautiful and full color book tells of why the river dwindles to perhaps only a hundred birds. It tells of what can be hoped for, now that the boy is grown and has a son of his own to search the sky, waiting for the Black Sky RIver to flow again. Here is both a story and a plea, eloquently worded. With his brushes, the artist - Dan ANdreasen - has caught the glint of the birds' iridescent wings, the light of expectancy in a boy's eyes, the very air stirring with sound. This softcover book, published at sixteen dollars, has an illustrated book jacket which covers the pages that were stapled together by the publisher. The pages themselves are not attached to the cover and can be easily removed intact from the cover. I can't tell if this is what the publisher meant to do, or if the pages just were pulled away (again, intact) from the cover as there are NO staple marks on the edges; hence the lowered price. The artwork alone is of much value to the reader! SOld 'as is'. Orchard Books 0531095371 / 9780531095379 Soft Cover Very good Condition Scranton, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Price:
