      1 STAR TREK MEMORIES (VIDEO)
      William Shatner
1995 900384  As Capt. James T. Kirk, William Shatner was at the forefront of the world's most popular sci-fi series. Now for the first time, he shares his PERSONAL remembrances of the ORIGINAL TV series and the Star Trek phenomenon.

Joining him are the ORIGINAL crew memgers of the Starship ENterprise. You'll hear the never-gefore-told stories behind Star Trek, how the fans rallied ot save the show after it was cancelled, how Chekov's look ws styled after the Monkee's Davy Jones, why the ship's chief engineer was Scottish, the origin of the Vulcan hand-salute, and much more!

Full color video, 86 minutes, stereo. Produced by Paramount Pictures, original box.

Released in 1996, this straight-to-video effort focuses almost entirely on the classic Star Trek series, as told by the principal actors of Star Trek: Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, and Walter Koenig. Shatner, of course, gets center stage, telling anecdotes about the way each of the roles was cast and why each actor was uniquely suited for his or her role. A great deal is also made (and rightly so) about what a breakthrough the show represented in its multicultural casting. Shatner, who also serves as host, repeats many of the same stories he used in his book, Star Trek Memories, as do his old cast mates. Indeed, this is one of several Star Trek retrospective tapes in which Nichols or someone else tells the story about her encounter with Martin Luther King Jr., at a point when she was considering quitting the show because her part seemed so inconsequential.

      3 TEK LAB
      Shatner, William
1993 901068 From Publishers Weekly In their third adventure (after Teklords ) set in the 22nd century, private detective Jack Cardigan and sidekick Sid Gomez are once again fighting the evil and omnipotent Teklords. A serial killer who calls himself the Unknown Soldier is stalking and executing people whom he perceives as war criminals. The wife of the latest victim thinks her husband was murdered by a copycat assassin at Teklord command, and she hires the detectives to find the Teklord killer. The story goes rapidly downhill as the villains, miraculously aware of the detectives' plans, calmly kill off the witnesses but only try to scare Cardigan away. Nor is the reader distracted from the flaws in the plot by the depiction of earth in 2120: a sprinkling of buzzwords does not paint a foreign culture. There are so many cameo appearances and short sidetracks that all tension is drained from the main story line. What little resolution there is comes not from the efforts of the heroes but from unmotivated mistakes on the part of the Teklords. Copyright 1991 Reed Business Information, Inc. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. From Library Journal A serial killer's choice of victims leads Jake Cardigan once more into a showdown with the cartel of infamous druglords responsible for the manufacture of "Tek," the world's deadliest drug. Hard-boiled Cardigan and his easygoing Latino partner Gomez are an engaging, if stereotyped, duo who deserve a wider scope for their adventures. Shatner's serviceable style of fast-paced action and his tongue-in-cheek portrayal of the 22nd century make this a pleasant albeit uncomplicated read. Purchase only where author popularity demands. 5 TEKLORDS
      Shatner, William
1991 7051 ABOUT THE BOOK TekLords ANNOTATION Known to millions as Star Trek's Captain Kirk, actor-director and bestselling author Shatner returns to the stunning future world he created in TekWar. Ex-cop Jake Cardigan discovers that the TekLords are behind a synthetic plague that's sweeping San Francisco. "The pace is unrelenting. . . ."--Publishers Weekly. FROM THE PUBLISHER Known to millions as Star Trek's Captain Kirk, actor-director and bestselling author Shatner returns to the stunning future world he created in TekWar. Ex-cop Jake Cardigan discovers that the TekLords are behind a synthetic plague that's sweeping San Francisco. FROM THE CRITICS Publishers Weekly PI Jake Cardigan pk tries to stop a deadly viral plague that has been loosed on a future San Francisco. PW called this ``A competent but predictable detective thriller played before a standard SF backdrop. . . . Lots of fast action here, but very little depth." (Jan.) Library Journal Ex-policeman Jake Cardigan continues his vendetta against the powerful distributors of the insidious drug known as Tek in this sequel to TekWar ( LJ 8/89). As an unknown virus controlled by the drug lords threatens 22nd-century Los Angeles, Cardigan battles programmed assassins and intransigent authorities to prevent a disaster of worldwide proportions. Fast-paced action, high-tech gloss, and a dash of romance combine to establish Shatner as a capable proponent of the hard-boiled school of sf action/adventure. 6 THE ASHES OF EDEN (STAR TREK)
      Shatner, William
1995 13766  From Library Journal : Although he has written both fiction and nonfiction best sellers, this is Shatner's first Star Trek-based novel

At 62, Captain James T. Kirk is a disgruntled hero when his first love, the Enterprise, is reduced to war-game maneuvers by his diabolical archenemy, Androvar Drake, now commander in chief. Kirk resigns his commission to help the seductive young Teilani.

The fact that her world needs saving and that she can purchase the Enterprise for Kirk makes her all the more alluring. Suspicious of Kirk's motives, Spock and McCoy join the rest of Kirk's original crew aboard the Excelsior, which is traveling to the Klingon-Romulan world of Chal. There Kirk has abandoned common sense to chase the illusion of youth: a mission, a purpose in life, and an invigorating love life with Teilani. Their age difference doesn't matter because exposure to the planet's atmosphere reverses the aging process. Plot a little too pat? Turns out that it's a psychological setup by a demonic faction within Starfleet to lure Kirk into revealing the secret of this paradise of eternal youth

. Excelsior reaches orbit, Kirk comes to his senses, and evil is, at least temporarily, thwarted. The "real" Kirk--Shatner--with the help of Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, adds a satisfying, commercial-free, escapist episode to the apparently endless Star Trek series.  Pocket Books 0671520350 / 9780671520359
