. Cambridge Glass is the story of the New England Glass Company of Cambridge, Massachusetts, which ran from 1818 to 1888. At one time it ws the largest glasshouse in the world. Its products were fine blown and cut ware & every type of engraved and decorated glass know in the Victorian era. Its colored glass - especially ruby - was famous. .. This book is based on research done by visiting some 20 families whose relatives had been connected with the works. By studying early newspapers, land records and other documents, the author, Lura Woodside Watkins, was able to give the New England Glass Company the credit due it for much of our finest early glass and to write an authentic history of an industry once so important.
