      Over 500 photos and illustrations, useful maps, and the expertise of Oscar Brockett, one of the most widely respected theatre historians in the field. Franklin J. Hildy contributes his scholarship and experience throughout the book and, in particular, to a discussion of English Theatre/Shakespeare (Ch. 5). Reorganized with more uniform chapter lengths and a clearer chronology, the ninth edition continues to provide the most thorough and accurate assessment of theatre history available. For anyone involved with, or interested in, the theatre.

      Provides a chronological survey of the theater's history as a sociocultural institution, mixing historical accounts with interpretation. Covers periods such as ancient Greece, the European Middle Ages, Renaissance drama, Northern and Eastern Europe in the 18th century, and Europe and the US in the 20th century. : Edges are bumped from shelf wear; several pages have small folds at the bottom which are creased (right side); some pages are 'wavy' although there is NO evidence of water damage; upper left of spine area has some tiny amount peeling . This is a USED book and is being sold as such. I've tried to describe any 'defects' as seen, so this is being listed 'as is' and priced accordingly! Inside is CLEAN and UNMARKED, over 700 fully illustrated pages that list for Eighty Eight dollars.

      Price = 29.80 USD
